Highway users will be exempt from paying tolls on all highways nationwide for two days, on 23 and 26 December, in conjunction with Christmas

In a statement on Facebook today, 21 December, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the toll exemptions would apply to all types of vehicles on both Saturday and next Tuesday.

However, the toll-free initiative does not extend to toll plazas at the border of the country, specifically the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar and Tanjung Kupang toll plazas in Johor.

Ahmad said the dates were chosen to prevent the concentration of traffic that might lead to congestion

"The initiative is carried out to alleviate the people's burden, and to allow them to spend the festival and school holiday break with their families," he said.

Ahmad also urged motorists to plan their journeys according to the travel time advisory that will be issued by highway concessionaires and to adhere to road safety rules.

"The Works Ministry would like to wish everyone who celebrates this festival a Merry Christmas and may they reach their respective destinations safely," he added.
