Govt Announces Free Toll For Deepavali Weekend Starting Tomorrow
Toll exemptions will be implemented from 12.01am tonight, 11 November until 11.59pm on Sunday, 12 November.

Highway users will be granted toll exemptions for two days starting tomorrow, 11 November, in conjunction with the Deepavali holiday
Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that toll exemptions will be implemented from 12.01am tonight, 11 November, until 11.59pm on Sunday, 12 November, reported Berita Harian.
"Toll exemptions will be given to all types of vehicle classes at all toll plazas except at the border toll plazas, namely the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll Plaza (BSI) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, Johor.
"This initiative is carried out to celebrate all Malaysians, especially the Hindu-Indian community celebrating Deepavali. It is also in line with the Unity Government's goal to help ease the burden of the people across various religions, ethnicities, and beliefs," said Alexander.
The minister also said that the toll exemption date was chosen with the goal of avoiding traffic congestion on the days Malaysians return to their hometowns and travel back to the city
He added that his ministry estimates a traffic volume of 11.8 million vehicles on those two days.
"With the implementation of this toll exemption, it is hoped that highway users can take advantage of this opportunity, besides planning their journeys wisely. Highway users are also advised to follow the recommended travel time advisory (TTA) schedule.
"Safety and safe driving aspects must be adhered to so that all highway users can reach their destinations safely, and this Deepavali celebration will be more meaningful with beloved family," he added.
The minister also suggested that highway users check the Malaysian Highway Authority's (LLM) Facebook page or official X account for updates on traffic status and incidents on the highway.
